As a New York engagement photographer, I love when couples choose locations that hold meaning while also creating space for genuine connection. Veronica and John’s Glen Island engagement session in New Rochelle, NY was the perfect combination of both.

With waterfront views, sprawling green lawns, and thoughtful personal details, Glen Island Park provided the ideal backdrop for engagement photos that felt romantic, elevated, and true to their story. From a champagne toast to quiet moments flipping through books together, every detail reflected who they are as a couple and the life they’ve built together over nearly a decade.
Their engagement session wasn’t simply about creating beautiful photographs. It was about celebrating a love story that began at Iona University and has continued to grow through every season of life.
Long before this Glen Island engagement session, Veronica and John first met in 2014 while attending Iona University.
What began as a simple request for help with a math assignment quickly turned into a friendship and eventually a relationship neither of them could have predicted. Nearly ten years later, their connection feels just as natural as it did in those early days.

Over the years, they have built a life filled with shared experiences, laughter, and unwavering support. In 2020, they moved in together during the height of the pandemic. While that transition could have challenged many relationships, it only strengthened theirs.
Today they share a home, a future, and one very lovable pup named Cashew.

No engagement session that tells the full story of Veronica and John would be complete without Cashew.
Full of personality and energy, Cashew brought his own charm to the day. Whether he was walking alongside his parents or patiently waiting with Veronica’s mom while we photographed couple portraits, he added another layer of authenticity to their gallery.
Including pets in engagement photos is one of my favorite ways to make a session feel even more personal. They are often such an important part of a couple’s everyday life and deserve to be part of the story too.

One of the things I noticed immediately about Veronica and John was how naturally they balance one another.

Veronica is thoughtful, organized, and intentional. John brings an effortless sense of humor that keeps everyone smiling.
Together, they create a dynamic that feels both grounded and joyful.

As an engagement photographer, these are the relationships I love documenting most because the connection doesn’t need to be forced. The laughter is genuine. The affection feels natural. The moments unfold on their own.
Throughout the session, we blended refined editorial portraits with candid moments, creating a gallery that feels both polished and emotionally honest.

For their engagement session, we chose Glen Island, a picturesque park in New Rochelle, New York, with waterfront views, open fields, and a relaxed atmosphere that was perfect for their picnic-inspired theme. We wanted it to feel intentional and elevated—more than just a walk through the park.
Veronica and John came prepared with thoughtful details that made the session unique. They brought along a picnic basket, books to flip through together, and even actual glassware for a champagne toast. And of course, they chose Moët, because if you’re going to toast to love, why not go all in? These touches created the perfect blend of casual comfort and timeless elegance, giving the photos depth and storytelling elements beyond just portraits.

As the sun shifted, we moved through different spots in the park, from open grassy areas to quiet corners that gave them space to be themselves. The result was a gallery filled with variety—romantic close-ups, playful laughter, heartfelt moments, and even some four-legged cameos from Cashew.
For couples looking for engagement photo locations in Westchester County, Glen Island Park is truly one of New York’s hidden gems.
Located in New Rochelle, NY, Glen Island offers beautiful waterfront views, open green spaces, walking paths, stone architecture, and incredible natural light throughout the day.
Its variety makes it an excellent location for couples who want engagement photos that feel both elegant and relaxed.
Whether you’re planning a picnic-inspired engagement session, romantic waterfront portraits, or something completely unique to your relationship, Glen Island provides endless opportunities for meaningful imagery.
The versatility of the park allowed us to move seamlessly between romantic portraits, playful interactions, and storytelling moments without ever feeling rushed.

In addition to Glen Island, we knew it was important to include Iona University in their engagement session. After all, it’s where their story began.
Walking through campus brought a sense of nostalgia and connection that added another layer of meaning to their gallery. The familiar pathways, brick buildings, and quiet corners all served as reminders of where everything began.
For couples considering engagement photos at a college campus, I always recommend checking permit requirements and campus policies ahead of time. Choosing a location that carries personal significance often creates photographs that feel even more meaningful years later.
One of the best pieces of advice I can give couples planning their engagement session is to choose locations and details that reflect your relationship.
Your engagement photos do not have to look like anyone else’s.
Whether that’s:
The most memorable engagement sessions are the ones that feel authentically yours.
As meaningful as this engagement session was, it’s only the beginning of Veronica and John’s next chapter.
In May 2026, they’ll be celebrating their wedding at one of my favorite venues, Arrow Park in Monroe, NY. And, if this session was any indication, their wedding day will be filled with the same love, laughter, and connection that made this engagement session so special.
I cannot wait to document it.
If you’re looking for a New York engagement photographer and want photographs that feel refined, emotionally connected, and true to your relationship, I’d love to hear your story.
Whether you’re planning engagement photos in New Rochelle, New York City, the Hudson Valley, or beyond, my approach is rooted in creating an experience that feels natural, meaningful, and uniquely yours.
